1- How long the first appointment will take?
It depends on your situation. You will need at least one hour for the first session. This gives the Physical Therapist enough time for examination, and assessment and providing the treatment.

2- What do I need to bring with me?
On the initial visit, you will need your ID and Insurance Card for registration purposes, as well as Doctor’s referral paperwork. It is also a good idea to wear comfortable clothing.

3- What do you do during the first appointment?
A Therapist first examine patients’ medical histories and then test and measure patients’ physical strength, balance, performance, and function. Then based on the assessment, he or she will develop a treatment plan and strategy. During the first visit, you may also receive the treatment.

4- Do I need to bring a doctor’s referral?
Yes. You need doctor’s referral to receive physical therapy services. Most insurance companies also require you to submit a physician’s referral for reimbursement of treatment fees. So, make sure to bring your physician’s referral or the treatment plan (signed by your physician) with you.

5- Do you offer free parking?
There is no fee for parking. There is no shortage of space to park.

6- Do you provide childcare facility?
No. Due to insurance liability, children are not allowed in the Gym area. However you may look into finding the childcare facilities near the IPT offices that is convenient for you.

7- What funding options do I have?
Several funding options may be available such as:

• Blue Cross
• Blue Shield of California
• Medicare
• Private Health Care Plans
• Workers’ Compensation

  Work related injuries, the initial assessment and treatment will be covered by California Workers’ Compensation. However, further treatments must be approved by C.W.C.

  California Workers Comp

• Motor Vehicle Accidents

  You must seek assessment and treatment after a car accident from a primary care provider. (e.g. your Physician). Claim forms must be submitted within limited time of injury or first treatment to your insurance company.

• Extended Health Care

  Private Insurance through work, your spouse, or your own insurance such as Blue Cross, has provisions for Physical Therapy. Check your plan to see what is covered. Some insurance plans require that you have a physician’s referral in order to claim your treatment costs.

8- Do you keep my information confidential?
Yes. We value your privacy and protection of your private information. The physical therapist are required to adhere to the laws and regulations governing the practice of physical therapy.

10- Can I get PT treatment for “free”?
PT services are not free. You may be able to use your available financial sources, such as car insurance, Workers Comp, private insurance, and you. Please see answer 7 on this page.

11- What are your office hours?
Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. We are closed on weekends and major holidays.

12- Do you treat an injured in a car accident for free?
Your car insurance may cover your initial assessment. You may have several funding options depending on several factors. Your Physical Therapy members may assist you.

13- Do you Provide acupuncture?
No.

14- Do you provide TMJ treatment?
Yes. Temporo-Mandibular Joint (TMJ) is a small joint located where the skull and lower jaw meet, which enables the lower jaw (mandible) to move and function. Arthritis and grinding the teeth at night are some of the causes of TMJ.

15- Does physical therapy increase the pain?
It depends on your physical condition. You may experience more pain during the evaluation of strength, mobility, balance, and your body condition. During this assessment, your physical therapist may provide you with options to manage the pain.
